The perfect writing spot?

August 31, 2018

We might call this a peach of a spot. This is at Herring Cove Provincial Park on Campobello Island across the International Bridge from Lubec, Maine. I was having a little breakfast writing time before I went to the workshop at the annual Iota Conference http://iotaconference.com/. The view is looking out over Grand Manan Sound with that island in the background fog.

The conference is about “short forms,” whether it’s poetry, fiction, or nonfiction, and this year’s Faculty was Beth Ann Fennelly https://www.bethannfennelly.com/about-beth-ann/and Sven Birkerts http://www.bu.edu/agni/authors/S/Sven-Birkerts.html. You should check it out for next year.

It’s always a goal of mine when I go to something like this is to come back with at least one “keeper.” This time, I’ve got a little flash essay tentatively named, “Schnozzle” (that’s right, like Jimmy Durante). You may see it in print sometime soon.
